Sculpting Part. 2

I over heard my tutor talking to first years about 3D scanning, and seeing as had my hands on some Plasticine  I decided I'd mold something with intentions to scan it. So I tried doing a face. Which was failing until I decided to make it not look too realistic and keep it cartoony. I ended up liking the results.

So when I got home I decided to make some more.

And here's an ikle Deadpool :D

Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have these scanned in.
Don't know what I'd even do with them, I think my tutor will enjoy doing this more than me. But it's something to have a go at.

[EDIT]
I did more!! :D

This time with sculpey, because I like the idea of having some of these faces that wont get squished sometime in the (probably near) future.

Monday Update

So I need to do a to do list.
Mainly because my time plans are never useful (I never am able to follow them.... because I never really try to).

To Do.

-pick which scenes will be fully animated
-pick which ones will be seen in comic book format
-do line tests for each scene
-once finished line tests, go over in detail
-draw up comic book in detail
-draw/ animated all smaller comic scenes
-design and draw backgrounds
-composite character into them

If I've forgotten anything i'll just come back an add it in.

So far I've started doing line tests for the first two scenes, which I'm then wanting to go into more detail with today. So Hopefully by the end of today I'll have most of my first scene drawn.

I've also drawn out all my comic book, but half of it isn't really readable to any one other than me, so I will finish it properly. Then I need to draw it all out again, because the layout of the pages in proper comic book panels instead of my quick sketches. And to layout to book properly (I explain what i mean by that later, when I have photos to show).

In other news I started my CV.
I decided to do a comic book themed one. So I wrote a short script and drew out thumbnails of each page, So I have pretty much settled on a comic story to use for my CV. And for the actually info. (AKA the actual CV) I'm doing it in the style of adverts you would find in the back, which I've also started to design.
So I'm confident in doing that. I've drawn out a few characters I'll be using in the comic, just need to properly draw out each panel.

Monday Update. On A Tuesday

We didn't have computers yesterday, instead we did our presentations, so update is a day late.

All I have to update you on is that I'm starting the production of my animation now.
I will start animating the first scene soon, but at the moment I'm drawing out my storyboard again but in comic book pages. Not all the pages will be seen in the final animation, but this'll give me an idea of which parts I'm animating and which I will be showing as the comic.

I went through marking out which points will have an animation scene start then end, and which comic panels will be still and which will have a bit of animating done to them (just slightly in some cases though).

The more I draw the comic book though the less I want to animate scenes. So I'll try to keep in mind I do actually need this to be more animated than having people just reading it.

not looking forward to doing sound design, fortunately I don't have to worry about that for a while.

Ident Name

Seeing as we have to come up with our own idents I've been thinking about it all the time.
All I was doing at first was redesigning how I could write my initials; seeing as I have a separate signature which I put on my art, so thought of keeping that theme for making an animation ident.
Well it sucks.
I knew it did but I couldn't think of anything else.
Then our tutor said it could be a name we go by on the internet.

Well I go by KJay now, but I did always go by Toonz.
And as perfect as it is, it WILL have been already taken. I mean, it has to have been. It's too obvious.

So my next thought was using my deviantART name. Threatened Angel.

I actually quite like it. And if you google that all you really get is my art; so it seems no one else is using it, for anything.
So I'm gonna start working around that....

I hope it's along the right lines.

New Header

Decided to add a header to my blog.
It's the same kind of idea I want to apply to my CV
Having thumbnails of my Characters.

I will change at least 2 of these as I don't have that many 'finished' looking drawings of my own characters, but for now these will do; I will tell you a bit 'bout them as well.

The first one is Aiden P.Kin
He's a grim reaper I created back in 2010. I was writing a short story for Halloween based on him, and have drawn him every year since. This image is from 2012's annual drawing.
his name was meant to be a play on the words -A Pumpkin- ...I know... I'm hilarious...

The next is a revamp of my Zombie character Ray. First designed to be a very simple character I could make in 3D. A combination of wanting to redesign him a bit and actually being able to draw better lead to this.

The 3rd one is a character called Yeshin. Over the summer of 2012 I had the idea of creating characters which were in a band, or more accurately, a Korean Pop boy group.
Yeshin, real name Shin Yehgyun, is the youngest of the 5 member group; the others being Jongsoo, Sam, Kaeil and Dongmin. I picked Yeshin to put in my header just because I think this is the best drawing of the 5 realistic ones I did of all the members.

Lastly is Lock, the character in the animation I'm working on now. A vigilanty/ serial killer who gets caught up in a gang after he unknowingly kills one of their members.

I realise I'm not very creative when it comes to thinking of different styles to draw characters in. (Like my tutors say, I have a container character I keep reusing). But I like drawing humans and I still think I manage to have some diversity it their faces.
