Animation In-Game and South Park

Unfortunately I couldn't find the actual animation I saw in the game, but this trailer has elements of it in it.

I liked the style and thought I'd post it here.

I'm kinda addicted to this game at the moment.

Also I watched a South Park episode which I found funny because it had the boys creating a Christmas animation in the cut out style, and showed how boring it can be creating each individual frame.
Again couldn't find a good clip of it but the episode it called 'A Very Crappy Christmas'

.....You can really tell I'm hard at work can't you........ -cough-.....

Portrait WIP Animation

I wanted to do this for a while, but I keep forgetting untill I do too much detail and can't really show each stage anymore.

This is is a quick one though

I like work in progress shots, it's fun to watch.

Word of the Week

Each week 3 of us give each other a different word to do, this being the first one so far.
My word was Hawk.
So....

...Tadah!!

Portrait a Day blog.

Seeing as I have more than 2 people following me now, I feel this is more useful to post this now.

I have a second blog, as a project/ challenge to myself.
The explanation of what it is and why I'm doing it is on the blog, so if you feel like following, here it is:

Week 2

Nothing much to update really.
I have posted all the things i did within lessons as we did them.
We did have another lesson on Cinema 4D where we learnt about camera movements and lighting, however I don't have the thing i saved on me, so I'll either find it, or just redo one and post it up here.

Other than that I've just been putting detail on my base assets.
The only thing I haven't properly worked out yet is what I'm doing the background style in.
But that wont take long to decide.

Oh, also i need to put my timetable thing up here.... sometime.....

Base Walk Cycle

Finally got round to scanning this is to test it.
I think I need one more at the end and it'll be fine.

All I need to do now is to trace/ print the base and draw each of the characters designs over the top.
I can probably use this for every time they walk, even though they don't always walk at this angle.... photoshop is a wonderful thing.

Ignore the fact that the size of the drawings change each time..... I'll photoshop that too.

Also decided to test Zane making the bow.... I think it works......
Not the smoothest of things but good enough.

(Also yes, I am posting this at 2am; apparently doing work during the day time is like, impossible for me.)

Scratching/ drawing on Film

I actually really enjoyed doing this
Even though the first few weren't that inventive of me, I decided to do portraits on the last few.
If I had better photos I think they'd look good.

Either way I actually like this style... I may randomly experiment more with it.

......Look at all that wasted text space.......

Music Video Dance

I've always wanted to try animate a dance from a msic video. So I decided to give it a go tonight (not like like I have loads of assets to do or anything......wait.......)

I really like the sketchy style. I used a practice video on youtube as a reference [Link if you want to watch]
It may not be that obvious to anyone else as to what's happening, I know the dance so well I'd recognise it anywhere. Will probably continue this at a later date.

Video and dance belong to SHINee/ SM Entertainment.

Week 1

First week I spent my time creating the characters assets.
However so far I haven't put any of the detail on each individual character, I've just creating bases in which I could use multiple times. So I could get the animation right, then add the characters details over the top of the base.
This will be useful because a few times characters have the same movements, so mays well use the same animation cycle for each one, instead of drawing the whole thing out each time.

This next week will consist of me adding the details to the assets I have already done, then experimenting with different ways to create the background.

[When I get home I will add the walk cycle animation from the base I have drawn]

I have also created a time table this morning for when I need to have done my assets for and get onto animation.

Intro. Post

HI! Here's some random stuff about me which I apparently need to tell you about....

My main interest is Portraiture, done in any style/ media I feel like. But I started studying Animation to look at character design more; as well as just to try out and see what animation is all about. It is something I had never really looked into before and I wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone.

Projects I have done so for is basic introductory work such as Walk Cycles and Story Boards/ Animatics.
Both were very enjoyable but now we are going into some new styles of animation as we further develop the Story we made for the second project.

...that's all I got....
